The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is seeking well-qualified Registered Nurses to work in the Tele-ICU department. This position includes applying critical care skills and advanced knowledge through virtual technologies to promote excellence and quality in critical care. Work Schedule: Full time. Rotating schedule, both days and nights. There are several RN vacancies located within Tele-ICU department at the Cincinnati OH VA Medical center that need to be filled. These RN positions are assigned to the Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center however the RN selected for the position can be stationed at either of the following VA Medical Centers: Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center - 3200 Vine Street Cincinnati OH 45220. Ann Arbor, MI VA Medical Center - E. Medical Center Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48109 Registered Nurses are responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process. The staff nurse considers all characteristics of the individual, including sex and sex role identification, age and life stage, state of health, race and culture, socio-economic status, values and previous experience with similar events, in order to assist each patient to identify and meet basic health needs and improve his/her health status to the individual's maximum potential. The Tele-lCU staff nurse consistently demonstrates sound clinical judgment and the ability to effectively provide and/or direct the care provided by team members for patients on an assigned tour of duty and modifies and updates the plans of care/treatment plans for patients on an assigned tour of duty. He/she identifies significant patient care problems and sets priorities for their management. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Collects and analyzes patient and family data for the purpose of assessment, diagnosis and management. Efficiently assembles a focused assessment of physiological, psychological and medical record data. Uses critical thinking skills in diagnosing clinical problems and in defining interventions. Re-evaluates prior diagnoses and care plans at appropriate intervals in accordance to expected individual patient outcomes. Prioritizes clinical problems accurately and in a timely manner. Uses clinical decision support tools in determining evidence-based practices for clinical problems. Responds to routine, urgent and emergent patient problems appropriately by demonstrating effective decision-making. Provides follow-up to ensure problem resolution. Advocates needs and wishes of patients and family with regard to health care. Formulates and articulates succinct and comprehensive assessments of real or potential patient problems to the physician. Collaboratively working with remotely located ICU clinicians. Analyzing and trending clinical data to identify problems quickly. Solves clinical patient problems independently and in a timely manner; communicates unresolved problems to the Physician and takes over monitoring the Physician's caseload until the situation is resolved. Effectively communicates with members of the Tele-ICU team and bedside ICU interdisciplinary team in a collegial manner to provide safe and error-free care during routine care and emergent conditions. Demonstrates creativity in meeting patient needs and demonstrates initiative in discharge planning and reducing patient length of stay. Identifies risk areas and analyzes resources available in the use of patient care equipment and body mechanics, while evaluating options available and selecting a course of action resulting in favorable patient/organizational outcomes.
