The PACT (Patient Care Aligned Team) Licensed Practical Nurse GS-7 has the knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated effort and self-direction in carrying out the most complex practical nursing care assignments considering age, culture, and special needs of patients. The PACT (Patient Care Aligned Team) Licensed Practical Nurse GS-7: Completes assigned duties and responsibilities which involve performing non-standard and specialized practical nursing activities requiring broad work experience and demonstrated skill sufficient to resolve a wide range of nursing problems. Serves in the outpatient setting as a member of a health care team with assigned duties which include prioritization and coordination of clinical activities with minimal supervision. Possesses considerable knowledge, experience, and skill for concentrated effort and self-motivation to carry out complex patient assignments. Possesses the knowledge and understanding of human behavior, patient motivations, and reactions to situations. Possesses the knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out patient care based on the patient's condition. Possesses broader knowledge and skills due to the requirement for independent level of function and limited need for supervision. Utilizes judgement in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and to accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information. Demonstrates comprehensive practical nursing knowledge and skills needed to perform duties in the Primary Care Program. Possesses the ability to recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations and initiates appropriate emergency interventions. Possesses the ability to appropriately utilize this knowledge in working effectively with patients, family members, and internal/external customers. Serves as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training less experienced LPN's related to support duties for these more complex, specialized procedures. Serves as a resource, role model, and mentor for others in the application of these skills. Actively seeks out educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills, sharing new knowledge gained with other staff to improve nursing practice. Possesses communication skills that enhance interactions with veterans, family members, co-workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes advanced communication and conflict resolution skills to appropriately manage disagreements in the workplace and in diffusing verbally or physically abusive patients or visitors.
