The Armed Services Blood Program and the Army Blood Program mission is to collect, process, test and provide quality COVID convalescent plasma and other blood products from volunteer donors and to coordinate the distribution of blood products to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) worldwide in order or provide life-saving blood products.
The Phlebotomist will performs a variety of duties on a rotating basis in various sections to include phlebotomy, registration, vitals, and donor recovery. You will receive donors and visitors, and answer telephone calls. Determines nature of inquiry. Directs the inquiry to the appropriate section. Takes and relays messages. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the section at all times. You may instruct and monitor various phlebotomy personnel or students on rotation in phlebotomy techniques. Areas of concerns include: patient identification, site selection, site preparation, blood collection, specimen labeling, patient care, blood handling techniques and emergency treatment of adverse phlebotomy reactions.

High school equivalent and completion of a donor Phlebotomy program accredited by The Joint Commission or CAP; Current BLS
Must have performed 50 successful donor collections with an accredited laboratory within the last two years
Must possess current certification/registration as a Phlebotomy Technician, Donor Phlebotomy Technician or equivalent by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technologists or other agency approved by the Assistant Secretary Defense (Health Affairs), ASD(HA)
Familiarity with Enterprise Blood Management System (EBMS), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), MHS Genesis, and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
