Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an opportunity for a civilian Full Time Registered Nurse – Urgent Care at the Fort Belvoir-sponsored Family Health Centers in Fairfax, VA. This position will require regular evening and Saturday shifts.

Oversee the functions of the Urgent Care Medical Assistant to include competency assessment and scheduling.
Performs assessment and triage of walk-in patients per protocol.
Handles urgent/emergency situations. Utilizes the nursing process to coordinate and provide patient care.
Provides safe, accurate and clinically competent direct care to patients and families, recognizing patient needs.
Seeks appropriate assistance and uses clinic resources to enhance clinical decision-making.
Prepares patients for examinations. Obtains health history information, takes accurate vital signs, and reviews medications.
Documents plan of care. Documents phone calls per protocol.
Assists with office procedures. Administers treatments and performs diagnostic testing as ordered by the provider.
Administers injections and medications. Start IV’s, maintain and administer IV fluids/meds as ordered by provider.
Performs patient intake: vital signs, height and weight, reason for visit, interim history, allergies, medication lists, and other interventions as required.
Intervenes in complex patient and family situations.
Utilizes the nursing process based on research and evidence-based outcomes.
Under supervision of the practitioner, inform patients of clinical results, to include lab, radiology, and other studies and manage secure messaging communication.
Ensure that the patient or family understands follow-up and referral information.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills and effective English (written and verbal) communication skills.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Excellent customer service skills.
An understanding of medical and clinic settings.
Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
Demonstrated competence email and written communication.
Availability to work a schedule within 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM weekdays, and 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM Saturdays.
Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
At least 2-years’ experience as an Urgent Care RN.
Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
