This physician would be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enforcing acceptable professional and ethical standards for the Palliative Medicine clinical staff according to CMC Palliative Care Program policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. This individual works with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer to assure that the Palliative Medicine program meets all related local, state, federal, and accrediting-body rules and hospital bylaws, rules and regulations. In addition, the medical director serves as liaison between the Palliative Medicine clinical staff, the CMC medical staff, the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Nursing Officer.
Practitioners in the Palliative Medicine program are clinicians who provide consultative clinical care for patients in Catholic Medical Center, the CMC Emergency Department and other CMC ambulatory sites.
Work requires a MD or DO, and completion of advanced graduate medical education in any of the specialty boards (Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry and Neurology, Radiology, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology) required as a prerequisite to attain Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Successful completion of training as mandated by the ABIM/ACGME for board eligibility is required. Clinical experience in an inpatient healthcare environment caring for adult patients.
Leadership: Prefer three years of Medical Director responsibilities.
Physician will maintain a current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Hampshire and Federal and NH State prescriptive authority, and will obtain American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine board certification and remain in good standing as a medical staff member of the Catholic Medical Center
