Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Trauma Program, conducts the quality improvement activities of the Trauma Program; supervises and monitors activities of care management specialists. Participates in research studies, community education in injury prevention and clinical rounds. 1. Assists with the development of the Quality Improvement plan of the Trauma Program. Performs and/or supervises medical record audits related to various trauma Quality Improvement indicators in order to identify problems and/or trends in trauma care for referral to providers. Facilitates problem and resolution loop closure. Responsible for providing feedback to referral hospitals/physicians regarding patient outcomes.* 2. Prepares chart reviews and summaries for the Trauma Morbidity and Mortality Committee.* 3. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of local, state or national Trauma Registries, in conjunction with the other Trauma Program Specialist (data specialist) and the Trauma Coordinator. Assists with the development of the state trauma registry, in conjunction with other state representatives.* 4. Prepares and analyses cyclical and ad hoc reports designed to evaluate the Trauma Program. Prepares approved requests for reports from outside sources.* 5. Assists with the development and implementation of the injury prevention plan, including monitoring of activities and evaluation of outcomes. Develops contacts within the community and develops a plan, tailored to the need within the community, based on registry data and/or requests from the community.* 6. Assists with research activities, as requested.* 7. Assists with the coordination and implementation of educational activities for health care professionals including, but not limited to, Advanced Trauma Life Support.* 8. Represents the hospital and the Trauma Program on committees and/or task forces outside the hospital setting.* 9. Supervises and monitors the activities of the care management specialists in order to evaluate, in conjunction with the Trauma Coordinator, whether the objectives of trauma case management have been met. Provides direction and input into the work performance evaluations for the trauma data technician.* 10. Promotes guest relations; anticipates and responds to the needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous and timely manner; treats others with care and respect maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity. Maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.*
1. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred. 2. Three to four years experience with trauma patient care in an emergency or critical care setting. 3. Supervisory/managerial experience desirable. 4. Quality improvement, injury prevention program or data base management experience preferred.
