Under general supervision and followingestablished policies and procedures, performs diagnostic radiological examsutilizing appropriate imaging equipment. Verifies patient identity and reviewspatientâs medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure. Interviews patient to obtain, verify orupdate medical history and assesses risk factors such as medications, pregnancyand/or psychological indicators. Explains procedure to patient, including sideeffects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives andfollow-up. Sets up equipment and acquires appropriate images as perscript. Reviews images, makes initialobservations, documents exceptions from established protocols and communicatesdata to radiologist. Recognizesand responds to medical emergencies as appropriate. Providesphysician-prescribed post care instructions to patients. Participates inprocess improvement activities within radiology practice including but notlimited to quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis and patientsatisfaction. Provides imaging education to residents, student technologistsand new employees. Able to take call/standby as required by the department.
1.Registered by the American Registry ofRadiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
2.Requiredto have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic LifeSupport â Healthcare Provider (BLS)training by end of orientation period.
