Position is half Pediatric Emergency Department and half Pediatric Med/Surg, 3 12-hour shifts/week
To plan and implement supportive, therapeutic, educational and recreational programs for pediatric patients.
To provide preparation and procedural support to patients and families.
To facilitate and encourage positive coping mechanisms in children and their families.
To provide opportunities for growth and development through play, learning and self-expression
To serve as a resource for other hospital staff in areas of: child development, family centered care, age appropriate preparation and coping strategies, as well as end-of-life issues.
Bachelors Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Education, Social work, Therapeutic Recreation, etc.
Completion of 600+ hour internship, as required by the Association of Child Life Professionals.
Required License/Certifications/ Registration:
Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), or completion certification within one year of hire.
