The Urgent Care Medical Director (UCMD) is a key role in the organization and is responsible for clinical oversight of the Vail Valley Medical Center urgent care and walk-in locations.
The ideal candidate should be able to:
Demonstrate competency in triage, diagnosis, and treatment to assure high standards of patient care and safety are maintained.
Demonstrate and quantify experience with change management
Utilize metrics to measure, analyze and manage clinical performance in alignment with organizational objectives
Demonstrate ability to motivate and influence the behavior of healthcare professionals, preferred documentation of such via a 360 degree survey or alternative
Identify and manage outliers on key performance indicators and core business metrics
Provide clinical support in each location on weekly bases based upon volumes, vacations, sick time, etc.
Manage clinical provider team comprised of nurse practitioners and physician assistants
Act as the supervising physician for urgent care provider team
Oversees implementation and generation of appropriate clinical protocols
Uses available reports, medical records, and on site observation to review and improve the quality of care delivered by each individual provider
Provide training of new providers and clinical care tech staff as needed
Monitor and ensure accuracy of provider coding and documentation
Assures medical involvement in the development, approval, and review of all policies, procedures, and protocols governing clinical care.
Monitor and manage Urgent Care's patient satisfaction scores
Collaborate with operations team to resolve patient care complaints and grievances
Other duties may be required based on hospital specific requirements or needs
Attend Quarterly Medical Staff Meetings & Other committees as necessary

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
Three to five years clinical experience in an urgent care, emergency department or equivalent
Experience with multi-site management for a health system, management company OR private group practice
Emergency medicine or urgent care management experience preferred
Board Certification in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
A license to practice medicine in the state of Colorado or the ability to obtain one
A DEA or the ability to obtain one
Preferred advanced certifications; ACLS, PALS, CALS, ATLS, etc.
